drank like a fish and got high at every opportunity.  I decided to walk around the beach.  I could see the people busily walking around in the rat race of  life while the sky and a few clouds above seemed so tranquil.  It was at that moment that I realized how badly I had messed up my life. I asked God, “Forgive me for wrecking my life and change my life to be what You want me to be.”  It was there that He met me.

Things changed.  Since that moment in 1984, I have not touched drugs or alcohol (accept commuion a couple of times).  I had no withdrawals, which was a miracle nor did I have any desire to return to my once admired life style. I lost all my friends as they could not take any chances that I would rat them out, I would have felt the same way in their shoes).  I lost a major part of my income and for the first time and had to work for a living.

Although I had stopped all my illegal activities, it took me a year before I could see a police car without worrying that they were after me.  I found new friends that I could trust.

Today, I help people rather than hurt them.  I have a lovely wife, a foster daughter and two boys who will never have to go through the things in life that I did.  Best of all, I have found a God who loved me and forgave me.

The real truth  is that it does not matter how good or bad we are.  While you may or may not have lived a life like mine, we all have done things that are wrong.  I found peace, freedom and purpose in life by admitting the truth:  I was not as good as I thought.  Only by admitting the truth and accepting that there is a GOD who is greater than we could ever think or imagine can we find the answers to the questions of life.  We can know who God is and have a life long relationship with Him.

Would you like a relationship with God?  Have you ever given Him a chance in your life?  If not, why not make the decision now.

Here is how:

1) Acknowledge that you have lived your life wrong. Admit that you need God‘s grace and mercy. Sin (the wrong things) separates us from God, therefore we must be willing to turn from sin. God will give you the power if you are willing!  Ask God for forgiveness and He will.
Romans 3: 21 - 26; 6: 21 -24

 2) Ask God for help and He will. Remember what God has already done for you.
(Mathew 7:7,8)

 3) Find a good church to help you and most of all trust God with your whole heart.

4) Understand that Jesus Christ paid for your sin and took away your guilt on the cross. (Romans 5:8)

5) Invite Him to come into your life as your Lord and Saviour through prayer. Romans 10:13

You can pray something like this:

“Dear Lord Jesus,

I know that I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe that you died for my sins. I now invite you to come into my heart and life.  I want to trust you as Saviour and follow you as Lord putting you in first place in my life.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
